If I’m not mistaken, the story of this film is adapted from the book “Wuthering Heights” because I noticed striking similarities between the characters, plot, and lines of the movie with those of the book. Anyways, I think the movie is good. It was able to depict the struggle of the characters with regards to love and life very well. Moreover, the soundtrack of the movie was deeply haunting. It’s like a lullaby sort of love song which is truly sad, mysterious and all that stuff. The Promise is a thumbs up for me.
Daniel (Richard Gutierrez) is adopted by the father of Andrea (Angel Locsin) after finding him on the back of his farm vehicle, fierce but scared. Even though Michael (Ryan Eigenmann), Andrea’s brother, hates Daniel because he thinks he is stealing his father’s love and affection for him, Andrea became his friend and later, his lover. Uneventfully, Andrea’s parents died in a vehicular accident. Since then, Daniel has been treated miserably by Michael while Andrea cannot do anything about it but comfort him during trying times. What aggravated the situation was the arrival of the son and daughter of the hacienda they are working for. With the eye of Anton (TJ Trinidad) on Andrea and the fancy of Monique (Rhian Ramos) on Daniel, a motion of events will set in to test how deep the two’s love extends.
